Windows

The term itself is a legend. The word speaks for its story of success. It is even least likely that anyone who knows computers does not know Windows. I believe it is safe to say that Windows has so far been the most successful family of operating systems ever been introduced to mankind. Most beginners have their first experience of computers also through Windows. Most of us even prefer Windows over other operating systems we have less knowledge about.

As most of us probably know, Windows is introduced by Microsoft, a computer company which develops and manufactures various software and programs. Aside from the Windows operating systems, Microsoft also has, among others, its Office suite, which includes the programs Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more. Windows and Office are known to be the most patronized products of Microsoft all over the world.

Today, Windows has spread out to a wide array of choices of operating systems that are designed for different needs. There is the Windows Vista Business Edition, which is the OS suited for small businesses. For servers, meanwhile, the most recent innovation is the Windows Server 2008.

Windows of Microsoft has greatly revolutionized and dominated the world’s technology and market. It has brought innovations that have made man’s life easier. It has given way to easier communication, organization of work, and a more comfortable life. As the official Microsoft Windows website puts it, “Over the past two decades, Microsoft Windows products have evolved from a single, one-size-fits-all desktop operating system into a diverse family of operating systems and mobile technologies. Today, Windows products help people worldwide achieve their potential at work, home, and just about any place in between.” (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/WinHistoryIntro.mspx)
